What I Really Miss...
Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Praise the Lord! After slightly over a month, my white Esprit berms have finally seen the sunlight!

This was what I wore out today for class, completed with my green Havaianas. =) Quoting Siqi, one of my GIP mates, "wow, you look like you're in Singapore again!" Hell YEA!

It was a really warm day today. For the first time since coming to America, the sunlight actually felt hot, and I could feel the rays of the sun piercing onto my skin, much like in Singapore! Still, it isn't humid here, so one won't sweat under normal circumstances! The combination of sunshine, fair weather, and low humidity...ahh...

Now I truly understand why the "ang-mohs" love sunshine and summer so much. After a few months of freezing temperatures and cold sun, it is no wonder why warm weather is a luxury. It was so good that I decided to go for a jog after lessons. Slipping on my army singlet (haha, yea SAF singlets in America!) and Nike running shorts, I equipped myself with my trusty Ipod (blasting Mambo music :D) and headed out!

I don't know if it's the dry air, or the fact that I have turned fat due to American diet, or that I haven't been running since sem 1 exams ended...maybe it's a combination of all 3 haha...anyway I found it incredibly difficult to complete a simple 5km jog (something that I used to do rather effortlessly when I stayed in hall).

I went from out of my apartment, made a turn up Ferst Drive to North Avenue and into the city center towards the Centennial Olympic Park (advantages of being in a capital city campus!) and back. Half way through, although I wasn't really sweating much (because of the weather), my lungs were totally dry and each breath I took assailed my chest with sharp pains...

Thankfully I still managed to complete the jog in 1 piece. I'll try again tomorrow and see if I get better!

And just when I was about the get back into my apartment building after my jog...I stood out there for a good whole 15minutes...absorbing the sun...

I realized I missed the warm sun...ALOT!

P.S. In truth, the average temperature in the day today was 64F (about 17C, less than most of your air conditioning back in SG)...pretty ironic to call that "warm-weather" in Singapore context haha...
