sorry, dun mean to be offensive but my 1st reaction was WTF when i saw it

-Thad-: feeling crushed... 12:13
hello my 1st reaction was wtf too

when u told me haha

WTH? And yea, throw in WTF too for good measure!

That short msn convo with Yanyi stopped me dead in my tracks, in the midst of furious mugging for tomorrows pyschology quiz/exam (all quizzes are like mini exams here btw...20% weight!)...

Lol...so apparently Juleen Shaw (the chief editor of ConneXscions, WKWSCI's alumni newsletter) suggested to this semester's newsletter team to consider my blog as a possible feature? Whoa...how did she even find this blog?

Well, at least this little news gave me sufficient reason to apply some brakes on my midnight mugging session. I admit, I am stressed here. Forgive me, but I'm going to do some academic ranting now. You may close the browser if you do not wish to be subjected to my whining.

Even though everything here is S/U, the way assignments, readings, and quizzes pile up onto you is frightening. The American system is deceptively easy. On paper it looks simple. In practice it's a nightmare.

Imagine yourself having quizzes every 4 weeks, with each taking up 20% of your final weightage. Next imagine a module where you have an essay to submit every 4 weeks, each about 10%-15%, and a final huge ass research paper which is only worth 30% at the end. Now, combine these two together with reading reports and class presentations. Good.

Finally, multiply this workload by 6, which is the number of subjects I'm doing. Sweet life isn't it? Let's not forget the fact that each subject has a close-to 100 page reading per week on average...I swear in this mere 5 weeks I've read more than what I've covered in 207 last sem, NO JOKE!

Give me back my final exams please, I want to live the whole sem and mug at the end...not mug for the whole sem and not live at all...

Philosophy readings are dreadfully convoluted and long while my Biomedicine class (which I really enjoy) simply employs journal article after journal article...and we all know how long those get...

Anyway here's the current body count:

1x1500 word Biomedicine and Culture Essay on Ingestibles
1x1500 word Philosophy Essay
1xFundamentals of Management Quiz
1xCinema Studies Quiz
1xPyschology Quiz

Upcoming next week:

1x1500 word Biomedicine and Culture Essay on Incisions
1x1500 word Academic Review on an Oscar nomination
1x Biomedicine and Culture Presentation

Honestly, I never had such a workload in NTU before. Maybe I was just lucky back there. Dear friends, I really hope you guys are fairing better. It's only week 5...isn't it too early for stress and grief? =(

Oh and just when I'm about to return to mugging...the plot thickens...according to Keax who just msn'ed me a moment...
