Ok...now I've time to blog what I did during the weekends. Me and my mates headed down to Hampton for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Think of NASCAR as the F1 of America.
Looking at the amount of people around the motorway attending the event, I suddenly thought of those epic zombie outbreak movies...and I figured that America would really be scary if an outbreak occured. The amount of people that turned up for just a race event was phenomenal... Neverending stream of cars parked...it took us 10minutes to walk through the carpark to the motorway, and that's just ONE of the SIX carparks!
It was an extremely sunny day anyway. I'm so happy that Spring is here. On a sidenote, I'm sunburn even before hitting Florida next week haha. Sunburn in America! WOOO! LOVE IT! No more cold winters =) Here's some hot babes for the pre-race event shows. Apparently sponsors of the race cars will set up booths all around, selling paraphernalia and giving out freebies such as lanyards, posters, keychains, tee-shirts etc.Anyway, I got to admit that watching these cars race at 200mph gave a huge kick, especially when they were tailgating like nobody's business in order to overtake one another. Of course there were crashes and collisions, and what started out as a 40-car race ended with 33. How's that for casualty haha...
And this was the winning car no.2, driver Kurt Busch, doing the victory lap (driving the track in reverse). He was totally awesome and literally dominated the race. Nobody was a real match for him. It was pretty exciting watching how he would lap and overtake others.
There was a point during the race where he committed a foul and was placed in the middle of the pack for a restart. It was sheer exhilaration watching how he climbed back from the middle to lead again through the mass of middle-pack cars!
He's so freakin' fast...he finishes the entire lap in 34seconds! No kidding man...During the 322 lap (325 laps in total), a car crashed...and after all the pit-time adjustments and all...Kurt Busch was placed to start in 2nd position...and with 2 laps left...it was a crazy race to the finish.
Mingfeng took a much clearer video of the final 2 laps on Facebook. Go view it here. It was freakin' thrilling and everybody stood up yelling and cheering!
Now after watching this race, I feel like saving up money for this year's F1 race...guys, cars, speed...it really adds up...And here's a video of the cars doing a lap after a restart...love the sound of the engines as they pick up speed! Enjoy!
Alright...I would love to blog more but I have another essay to complete before Spring break comes...so take care all!
